A real mix this time, not that many albums, but lots of singles, despite being before the download chart got mixed in with the physical sales chart.
Silent Alarm - Bloc Party - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dzZQJZdcCU4 My problem with Bloc Party is the same as my problem with Muse. They only have three songs, the ones that sound like 'Helicopter', the ones that sound like this (So Here We Are) and 'Two More Years' which, co-incidentally is the only one of theirs that I like.
Employment - Kaiser Chiefs - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAkg4cwJp1Y
Arular - MIA - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VNJ96imMskk To be honest, I had a bit of jump start on listening to MIA because of my housemate of Sri Lankan descent. Of course, the minute N introduced her to me, I went awesome, because female politico-rap MC, that's pretty much exactly down my alley.
The Bravery - The Bravery - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pw_G0qzxiD8 One day I will own this album.
The Emancipation of Mimi - Mariah Carey - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uI2cwfluyNo

Don't Believe The Truth - Oasis - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQZQ5MHehes Lyla could just as easily have gone in the singles section with Importance of Being Idle going here. Two strong singles.
X&Y - Coldplay - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DNftO3-_sxQ One of the Coldplay songs I actually like ;)
Monkey Business - Black Eyed Peas - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZaI2IlHwmgQ I love Pump It! slightly too much. It's the surf guitar.
Get Behind Me Satan - White Stripes - http://www.youtube.com/user/whitestripes?blend=2&ob=1#p/u/18/IlcMRq3gb1s My Doorbell, other than being an earworm, is also probably my favourite White Stripes song.

Stars of CCTV - Hard-Fi - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Ye43mKIcy8&feature=related

Employment - Kaiser Chiefs - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54DtVXjk2jY
This is the album that gets the story this time. The song you just heard was 'Oh My God'. The first time I heard it was on CD:UK, and I fell in love. I had to have more of this band. One of the other tracks off this album was on the NME 'Best of' CD for the year. That track was 'Na Na Na Na Naa' (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMViPKkRImk&feature=channel). I played it to my housemate N because it was the only track of theirs I had to hand. Her reaction was 'that's not music'. Then 'I Predict A Riot' (video further down) was released. She was hooked. So yeah, Kaiser Chiefs converted a bhangra and RnB fan to indie. N went to see them live at Brixton. She said it was a fantastic night. I was talking to her one night, and she'd left this playing quietly in the background. We went to talk to my other housemate N, and 'Time Honoured Tradition' (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oK-w4ce30xc) came on, but so quietly the second N couldn't hear it. According to her, the two of us breaking simoultaneously into the chorus was wierd and freaky ;)

Eye To The Telescope - KT Tunstall - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYEU91d8ngc&feature=fvst So, I'm watching Jools and expecting Paul Weller. He's got a throat infection and can't perform, so we get this instead. And much though I love Paul Weller, definitely happy with the replacement :) (And squee, that was the first time I heard the Futureheads live, I think).
