Writer's Block: Fan love

Not sure if he's my favourite of all time, but Spock would take some beating on a list of characters that are my favourites.
I think it's mostly because of when I found Star Trek, because I must have been about 6 or 7, and I'd come over from Austria, and yeah, it was nice, but it wasn't quite the same and I was always the odd one out because I wasn't from here or from there, but he was loved by his friends because of that. (BTW, if you think I over-identify with Spock, please imagine the lengths I'm having to go to not to fall in love with Amelia Pond, given that my life story maps on to hers disturbingly well.)
Of course I wanted to be Spock when I grew up. I am still working on it. Can't quite manage the ears. The science thing seems to be okay so far (I'm going back to writing my thesis once I've posted this).
The other thing that struck me, possibly because my family is full of drama queens, is how much better it would be to be logical and restrained of emotion. That one I'm failling on madly, but it does enable me to cope with the family ;)
