redfiona99England got beaten by Australia in the football. Shock! Or as the papers put it, "Roobish" and "Shockeroos" (This makes sense only when you know the Aussie team are called the Soccerroos)
Now I don't hate the England team. I like it when they do well, but I'd like to say yah boo sucks to the media. They always go into such a frenzy. If England win a match, even against like Outer Mongolia, they're the best team ever, in the history of football. And if they lose just one match, they're the worst team ever, in the history of football.
The English football media make the Italian one seem restrained. Because hey at least they've decided on a mood (normally bleaker than bleak).
But yes. Big shock.
And I can't stand various members of the Aussie team. Actually what really winds me up is that due to a FIFA ruling, whoever wins the Oceania groups gets a free pass into the World Cup, instead of having to have a playoff against a European team. They say it's in the name of expanding the popularity of football. Yeah right, and the sponsor's money had nothing to do with it. Bah.
That means that a thug like Danny Tiatto is going to get to play in a world cup when stars like George Best, George Weah and Ryan Giggs never did. Although I do hold out hope for Giggs. Go Wales.
