LOTR survey thing
Feb. 1st, 2003 01:36 pmI put the warning on my bio for a reason :)
1) You, Legolas, alone in one room. What do you do?
Ask him what it's like being an elf. And how many strings he had to pull to be allowed to have Gimli come with him to the undying lands, because hello, the amount of strings must have been mighty. Oh and ask him to teach me how to use a bow and arrow, it would be a very useful skill.
2) You, Arwen, alone in one room. What do you do?
Kindly request that she stops being so mean to her Dad. Sorry, but I realise that Elrond may have used a little emotional blackmail, but hello, he's her father and she's trying to commit a long drawn out form of suicide. You have to see his point.
3) We sadly lost 3 when he fell into....ummm...ok, we just lost him.
This happens far too often.
4) What gift would you ask of the Elves?
I really don't know. A little more patience perhaps. Or some form of permenant happy pill.
5) What race would you most like to be?
Part of me says Dwarves and part of me says Men because they're both allowed to have faults. Or hobbits because Hobbitton looked nice and peaceful.
6) Honestly...would you keep it secret, and safe?
Secret I could manage, safe probably yes.
7) If you would keep it secret and safe, would you be the Ring-bearer, or would you swear to protect the Ring-bearer?
More protect because I am way too easily tempted.
8) Ok, you are the Ring-bearer, who makes up the Fellowship with you (of your friends) and if they're enough like a character, say who they'd be:
Sally, Sam, Adam, Chris, Nick, Jamie, Dave, Rachel, Amy
Sam: Sally, for she is my best friend in the whole world
Pippin: (Have no one for here, because Jamie is nothing like Pippin)
Merry: Rachel, she would have been Gandalf other than she's small so I went with small and clever.
Aragorn: Dave for he is my hero.
Boromir: Nick because he keeps doing stupid stuff that we advise him against because he thinks it's for the best. And yet, I still love him. Plus his mother's a little crazy so she can stand in for Denethnor
Legolas: Amy, because she's tall, blond, quiet and moves with grace, poise and dignity.
Gimli: Adam, because hello small, vivacious and fun loving. Plus so wouldn't want to get into a fight with him.
Gandalf: Chris, tall and wise, and really odd sense of humour.
9) Ok, you're not the Ring-bearer (but you are in the Fellowship like above), who of your friends would be the Ring-bearer?
Dave because he can be trusted.
10) Are you evil? Evil enough to become a tool of Sauron?
Not evil, more likely to become an accidental tool.
11) If you had to be one of the nasty/evil creatures (i.e. the Balrog, the Cave Troll, an orc, Ring Wraith, etc)
I suppose a ring wraith because they seem to be able to communicate and don't have the none existant life span of Uruk-Hais and Orcs.
12) If you didn't know the Ring was The One Ring, but you knew it made you disappear and such, what would you do with it?
Misuse it probably.
13) Pippin and Merry - are they really okay guys, or just big nuisances?
They're really okay guys.
14) Who kicks the most ass: Gandalf, Legolas, Strider, or Gimli?
They all do. I mean, hello Gandalf defeated the Balrog, which none of the others could have done. And Legolas, Strider and Gimli mincemeated a fair few Orcs and Uruk-hais didn't they.
15) Would you rather be an Archer, Wizard, or Ranger?
Wizard, because hello knowledge.
16) Who's your favorite character?
Boromir. And Theoden, and Gimli.
Apparently, question seventeen floated away.
To lose 1 question is an accident, to lose 2 smacks of carelessness.
18) If, for some odd reason, Aragorn and Legolas were to get in a fight, who do you think would win (and why)?
Aragorn. Because he's probably stronger. Then again, would the elf have more stamina.
19) Do you think the race of men is weak?
Not weak, just really stupid. (Poor Elrond, he sounded so heartbroken)
20) Does it make you sad to know the Elves are leaving these shores?
Yes.
21) React to this: Frodo lives!
This is good news.
22) If you've read the book and seen the movie, did you like both, or do you think one was better than the other?
Will read book, just got to finish Gormenghast
23) Do you think the movie was an insult to Tolkien's genius?
No, because it got people reading the books.
24) Any problem with the cast?
No.
25) Honestly...do you think Liv Tyler did a good job as Arwen, or are you glad she's in the movie just because she's hot?
It's a thankless role, that she did the best she could with.
26) What do you think of the choice to cut Tom Bombadil?
It had to be done.
27) Was the Balrog all you had hoped for?
According to my uncle, yes.
28) Any other changes from the book to the movie that irritate you?
No. But all I got from Uncle was that Boromir had black hair (but then oh Uncle of mine, people would confuse him with Aragorn, which enough people all ready did) and that there were no elves at Helm's Deep (but someone had to pay the blood price, and Haldir was it)
29) How about that special-edition DVD, pretty cool, or no?
Must get it. Must hide it from Grandmother.
30) Lastly, what was your favorite bit of the movie?
FOTR or TTT?
FOTR: Boromir, Aragorn in Lothlorien. Fell for the film and for the character there.
TTT: Theoden getting ready for battle. Theoden in front of his son's tomb. Faramir letting Frodo go, because whatever people say about the changes in Faramir, that's when you realise he's wholy of the good. And the actor does a really good job of the look across Faramir's face because you can see that the ring is tempting him, and then he realises that that was what killed his brother.
