A favour and a meme

The favour first:
Does anyone have the time to do a quick beta on an Iron Man movie-verse fic? Mostly just to make sure I've not put in any Britishisms and that my grammar has not confused the meaning of what I've written.
The meme: Ask me to associate you with five things. When I do this, post this meme and an explanation of your interest in those five things in your journal.
Far too long ago,
opera142 was kind enough to suggest five things, so here they are.
You know the thing you like but it makes no sense, Elrond is one of those for me. Because it's not like he's my favourite character in LOTR (hello Boromir), or that I'm particularly fond of Elves, in fact, since the dwarves are my favourites species in LOTR, it's almost the opposite, but Elrond just hits every one of buttons. Mostly the bit in the first film when he goes 'men, men are weak', and it's not because he hates humans, it because he's so disappointed in them, most notably Isildur. Plus, his personal life does pretty much suck (see: his brother, his wife, his daughter, his parents) and yet he's good and kind and nice. Also, when I first started blogging, I had some pretensions to intelligence rather than just being a squee machine, I wanted an intelligent LOTR character for my icon (being that that was what I was squeaking about mostly) and well, Boromir didn't fit the bill and I prefered Elrond to Gandalf. So he's been there ever since (with the exception of 6 months around the release of X-Men 2, when he was temporarily usurped by Mystique, but, who wouldn't be usurped by her ;) )
Is home, even though I lived there for a shorter period of time than St. Helens or Leicester. It's where I was born and it's totally ruined all cities for me for ever more. I mean, why isn't everywhere within walking distance of a palace and an ice cream parlour? Obviously, it's not perfect, the centre has become hideously over-commercialised (unless you know where to go) and the outskirts of the centre suffer from twilight syndrome, but what city doesn't, and there's something about the air (I'm reasonably sure its the smell of limestone buildings because central London and central Paris smell that way too), I feel better just being there.
This sent me scrambling trying to remember why I wrote about them in the first place. It's amazing what e-mail archives dig up, and that's without the messages I saved onto disc :) . I think part of it was that I like tag team wrestling and the dynamics lend themselves to writing fic, because if you've already got a situation where two characters interact closely, it doesn't take much to tweak it. I really liked the situation they were in, where you had Rico accidentally costing Billy and Chuck their belts and Rikishi accidentally gained a tag team partner, and as a set up it was too good to resist.
As far as I'm concerned the most awesome thing on the planet. Including music. It's how things work, and why they work, and I don't understand why not everyone loves it. I mean, I get not having a passion for it, or not wanting to study it, but I don't get having no interest in it at all. It makes me euphoric in ways that I can not explain, because there's always something new around the corner and it's the last great adventure on this planet.
I love fencing for many reasons, but one of them is that I am allowed to hit people with swords and get praised for doing so. How can a sport that gives me that not be awesome? Other than that, it's a sport that plays to my strengths e.g. explosive power rather than stamina, can be fought at close range, is an aggressive sport where I get to hit things (I have a personality defect, I need to hit things to enjoy a sport), so yes, it's pretty much the perfect competitive sport for me.
