I missed heat 3 due to a mixture of fun family duties and Channel 5 lying about their schedule. that Terry Hollands (GB) and ex-rugby player is one of the two from that heat through to the final.

Brian Shaw (US), Louis-Philippe Jean (Can), Brian Siders (US), Laurence Shahlaei (GB), Arild Haugen (Nor) and Mariusz Pudzianowski (Pol).

This seems to be the heat for injuries; Marius did something unspeakable to his lower left leg in the fingers and Shahlaei has broken his big toe in the truck pull.

It turns out that Mariusz has a torn calf muscle. And yet he still won the truck pull. They're all mad.

God bless Haugen for helping Mariusz with his warming up for the squat lifts.

After the axel lift, Maruisz, post 11 reps, had one comment. "No pain yet." It's amazing watching his technique, it's so correct, like physiology-wise. I think that's why he does so well. Do you think being a PE teacher helped him?

Haugen has some major tattoos going on. He also has an incredible vertical standing leap, he leapt right on top of the last podium in the Stones, after putting all five on to their respective podiums in a time of 16.14 seconds. His comment was 'what can I say, viking power'. Svend, your protege is doing very well indeed.

Haugen and Mariusz through.

I didn't get to see most of heat 5 either

Florian Trimpl (Ger), Raivis Vidzis (Lat), Jimmy Marku (GB), Magnus Samuelson (Swe), Dave Osterlund (US) and Travis Ortmayer (US).

Ortmayer won, by a decent margin with Osterlund the other man through. It came down to the Stones between him and Marku though. Magnus has once again declared that he's retiring, and I think he means it this time.
