Housemate just got a Blue-Ray DVD player and therefore we had a mini-film night.
First point - I see no difference between the quality of the pictures between that and normal DVD.
The films we watch were I am Legend and Iron Man. We watched the alternative version of I Am Legend and it was better than expected
Measles. Out of all the possible viruses in the world, they went with measles.
Also, it was the worst attempt at a quarantine ever. Because viruses spread on clothing too, people.
But then again, given that the syringe he injected the female infected with had an air bubble, I don't think much in general of him as a scientist.
While I see why people might not have liked the original ending, it was much better than the theatrical one.
We also then watched deleted scenes from Iron Man. They mostly feature Rhodey being far too cool for words, and appear to have been cut for no good reason. Then there are two scenes that are fun but you can totally see why they were cut, and a couple more scenes with Obidiah Stane. The one scene that you must all see is one where Tony starts a party in Abu Dhabi (I think) and Iron Mans away while the fireworks cover him. There's already been some choice Starkian pick-up lines by that point, but when he comes back, Pepper finds him and he's sitting alone, bloodied with a drink and a cigar and looks like he's seen hell on Earth. It's a fantastic scene.

Date: 2008-11-05 06:39 pm (UTC)It actually angers me that they changed it, because the whole movie was setting up one direction and then they 90-degreed it and slotted in a totally different ending. The original ending made sense.
