Okay so there was a major upset in the men's sabre. Interestingly, the BBC hasn't mentioned it, but we're used to them ignoring us.

While I'm still angry at the US gymnastics federation for Athens (no bribery and collusion my ass), I must say John Horton's floor routine was excellent.

Oh man, gymnastics at Athens was so fucking shady. But it did give us THE best sports moment in history, at least in my opinion. People booing ten minutes straight at the judges for underscoring Nemov. <3Alexei

It's funny the Americans, of all people, are complaining about the judging in Beijing, claiming that they're biased towards the Chinese. Meanwhile in the shooting, the Aussies are claiming cheating too, but the Aussies, they don't lose well at the best of times.

Whatever Americans, I didn't hear you complain much when Paul Hamm was totally favored in Athens. The American coverage drives me nuts, man. I'd watch the Canadian channel, but the commentator there drives me insane, too. MON. NO. TONE. >.< But I think I might have to put up with Mr. Zero Affect, because I don't think I can tolerate any more verbal fellatio of the US team when I find them incredibly mediocre. And I'm speaking as one who was a giant fan of the US women's team in '96, when they truly WERE magnificent.

The BBC's web coverage doesn't appear to like giving me sound on this computer which is annoying for a lot of sports, but bliss for the gymnastics. They're not biased, they're just really annoying.

Which begs the question: IS there such a thing as non-crappy commentating?

The BBC boxing commentry is good. But they have an an ex-boxer, an ex-trainer and a trained journalist, so it ought to be. They're all funny and clever and avoid the 'well, duh' moments that plague a lot of the other ones.
