Exact details here - http://nhw.livejournal.com/928423.html but basically they're a site that bind together your e-mail addresses and your journals and your e-bay accounts etc, all without your permission mind, if someone searches on their site using your e-mail address as the search keyword.
This would be bad enough, except that if you join they use information you give them to get info on your friends. Which is what's thought to have happened to a bunch of people who are talking on the entry I've linked to.
