First the SFX and violence - as someone has said in RL the SFX are indeed really good, especially for the Sandman, but I did think they were pushing it in a kids flick. Although I'm starting to suspect Spiderman was a PG-12.

Those who know me will have guess that the link is AMW. Because that's what worked about that feud, that it was because they had been friends that they could hurt each other that much. And it hurt when they and Harry and Peter were ripping strips off each other because they had been friends.

I love that Harry realised that there were things about revenge. I would also mark out like you wouldn't believe if, a few years down the line, AMW reunite to take on some big evil.

Also on an AMW tip - there be new TNA Today footage of the Wildcat - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a4xjCdjj3f0 I squeed rather a lot. And I'm totally using that as a riff for a fic somewhere.

Now TNA, where be the Storm mic time?

Marvel heroes only ever get it in the neck for doing good. The DC heroes don't. I think that's why I prefer Marvel, because it takes them effort to be good and they're doing it because they think that it's the right thing, not because there's any reward.

Also there's a lot less difference between the good guys and the bad guys in Marvel, so the good guys are more willing to believe that their opposite number could be redeemed because, quite often, they have themselves. That's why Xavier's willing to give Magneto his 2nd, 3rd and 24th chances. It makes them much more likeable, and, I think, makes the stories much better.

Batman is the exception to this because there's no redemption in Batman, but then there's no mercy, and I'm always amazed that something quite so bleak can be found in DC, which does tend to be slightly happier than Marvel.

But yes, I'm a Bat-girl, but I prefer Marvel. (Or more geekily, I may be a Bat-girl but until Xavier cold-bloodedly murders Magneto, make mine Marvel.)

Wow, that's a really good distinction, and I think you've hit on the head why I prefer Marvel as well.

because they think that it's the right thing, not because there's any reward.

YES. That's something that really hits my creative button. That's why I always love tweener characters, the one who have their bad side, but they want to do good, and it's a struggle all the way.

there's no redemption in Batman, but then there's no mercy,

Ouch, and that's also why I love Batman. He's my exception for DC as well.
