Malaysian GP and other catching up
Apr. 10th, 2007 10:13 pmI'm back in Leicester having been attacked by the dentist in both tooth and wallet. My face is still numb and it's been 7 hours since I had the injection. I also feel rotten, which is probably a mixture of the injections, the painkillers, the food I had and the adrenaline I used up while being drilled.
Due to there being no fencing, and me being at home, I got to watch most of the Malaysian GP. I enjoyed it immensely. Sure, I would have been happier with a better result for Ferrari, but Kimi isn't too far behind and it should sort out the pecking order in Ferrari. I don't care what the FIA say, to have a successful team at the sharp/top end of the grid, you need an established team order.
So, yes, it's not all bad.
Alex Wurz had a stormer, an overlooked stormer in relation to the adventures of Lewis Hamilton, but a stormer nonetheless. From 20th to 9th, how about that. I've said it before and I'll say it again, if he were only a few inches shorter, he'd be a contender. I do wish the Williams team would shape up though, and that's speaking as someone who doesn't like the team, because a car whose gear box keeps breaking (knocking Alex down to 20th on the grid, and Nico Rosberg out of the race) just isn't good enough for either of them.
As to the adventures of Hamilton, I am impressed. But again, I wish they'd tone down the hype a little. Or as Eddie Irvine puts it 'But it's simply not going to be like when Michael Schumacher came into F1 and blew away his three-time world champion team-mate Nelson Piquet!'

I love that man.
Still I wish Hamilton well, and hope he doesn't turn into another Button. That being said, I think he's got much better management and people round him, Ron Dennis won't let him turn into another Button.
Speaking of the original false dawn, I have to agree with something Damon Hill said (bet you never saw that coming) - if he had any desire to win a championship, he wouldn't be driving for Honda, he'd be driving for a good team.
Although I wouldn't wish that Honda on anyone. It's awful.
PS: When did Ron Dennis get adorable?
