Because I am truly lousy at remembering episode titles.

I was totally in love, from word one, with Shakespeare. He's so cute and adorable, and brainy and clever. I also think the Doctor has another geek crush on a level with his one of Mdm. Pompadeur. I've always wondered if I got less annoyed at her than a lot of fangirls because I knew of her before and therefore knew she was every bit as l33t, if not more so, as the episode made her.

Martha was also amusing, and I love her reactions at them being in the past and the witches. Who it must be said were pretty nifty villians.

I also liked the emphasis on the importance of words.

I also can't wait to find out exactly how he managed to annoy Elizabeth I.

Definitely looking up, two good episodes in a row. I am both intrigued and worried by next week's episode. Intrigued because whee Ardal O'Hanlon as a cat person, worried because they're making Tennant do loud and shouty again, and he doesn't do that well.

Ohhh, I'm excited. I juust got to the tenth doctor out here.

The way the ninth guy went was so fitting, but sad. Although I was kind of confused that they just left Jack there on the station.

I've got to believe they thought he was dead and didn't know Rose had resurrected him, seriously. Otherwise I can't reconcile it in my head.

Got to agree with you about MdP - I swear if that was the only exposure you had to her, it could come across as terribly Mary Sue and/or convenient for the Doctor to meet someone like that. It's not, of course, I knew enough by historical osmosis without doing direct research into her to know it wasn't exaggerated by more than the concept of the show, the SF-y bits were a little. But honestly I liked her anyway :)

But you'd think that with all that power at her fingertips Rose would be conscious of the people she was resurrecting. Honestly, you don't leave behind a cute guy who's shown a willingness to kisss other cute guys. It's just not right.

There's a TV telethon over here called 'Children in Need' and they did a little 10 minute insert in which the Doctor said he'd left Jack behind because the Earth would need someone to help sort it out after what had just happened. It's not exactly canon (Dr. Who being almost as bad as wrestling for trying to decide on what canon is) but I can accept it as reasoning.

I might well be in the minority, as you can tell from Joanne's comment.

It's the not canon bit, more than the reasoning, that makes me reluctant to agree on that, plus not everyone got to see that if they weren't in the UK or didn't buy the DVDs (well, we got it here *g*). I know Who canon isn't exactly linear but something unofficial just strikes me as wrong to consider canon.

Also, the Doctor was in post-regeneration trauma - he might not have known even if it is canon.

That's fair enough. I see your point, but it's rather unfortunately the only thing we get that's even half way to an explanation, and otherwise the Doctor does seem like a bit of a jerk.
