There may however be a 500 word love letter to Russell T. Davies at some point. Because oh how much did I love this. Because, and I quote Stu at this point, RTD is so much better at writing people than he is aliens and sci-fi, this format suits him better.

I do like the rest of Torchwood, yes, even Owen who deserves to be beaten up at some point. Sato might well be my favourite although I was intrigued by Suzy before she died. Or the second point at which Stu said, well this is depressing.

I like Gwen so far, I really don't see why people are saying she's a Rose-clone because she's already got more personality than Rose. I love how no nonsense she was when facing Suzy and the gun down, and I'm very amused by her partner and their dialogue. I muchly loved the dialogue.

That was probably why I was more than annoyed when she became randomly stupid for plot reasons at the start of the second one.

Joanne, on re-watching of Parting of the Ways, came up with an expression about how we all felt about Jack. It was 'oh Jack'. Right, times that feeling about 100x and that's roughly how I felt for and about Jack by the end of episode 2.

I mean, obviously, I know the woman who played Gwyneth/is playing Gwen is good, and I know John Barrowman can't be bad but I'd never noticed how good he was. Because the bit after Gwen kissed him actually hurt.

Please excuse me while I say the following: 1 <3 Captain Jack Harkness.

Because I can totally see why people were saying he wasn't nice, but that's because they've actually had him dealing with the fall out of the Bad Wolf escapade, and given how much of a death wish he appeared to have before, imagine what being unkillable has done to him.

I'm childishly pleased that I wasn't imagining his death wish and I was actually picking something up.

It says only good things about Torchwood that while I was trying to get to sleep I was actually thinking about it

Finally figured out exactly who's hand that was (yeah, I'm a bit slow on the uptake). Oh Jack!

He's so fantastically desperate to find the Doctor again, it's kind of painful because he also trying to carry on as normal. And you all know exactly how many of my buttons that hits.

Other things I loved about it:
There was glorious, glorious continuity, between Torchwood and Dr. Who and inbetween episodes with the weevil still being there (and how f-ing cool was the Weevil anyway). Also I love how there's finally a working chameleon field, but it's just not on the TARDIS. Is amused.
The lovely shout-outs to other sci-fi things (because I swear there was a B5 shout-out)
Little details like the way the girl looked at the end when she'd been having sex with however many men (roughly 8-10), she actually look shagged out. Like legs shaky, and sore and akimbo. Actually the girl that played her was fantastic.

That might have got the sex out of their system temporarily. One doubts it, but one can hope.

But yes, Torchwood totally rocked. Need a Jack icon. Possibly to replace my one of 10 temporarily.

Which according to at least one of my fellow watchers made Robin Hood even more of a let down. Then again, he doesn't believe me when I say that once you're used to the awful bits (Robin's dialogue, the stupid camera work, that bloody arrow) it's kind of fun and amusing.

It was even more amusing to note that this episode also stuck to the tried and tested formula of Robin and Marian exchange unrealistic dialogue (although this week's was definitely an improvement on previous weeks), Robin annoys the Sheriff and Much declares his undying devotion and love to Robin.

Seriously, he did it again. And while I can and am totally willing to believe he means it in the same sense of friendly love that I normally mean, they're definitely sailing mighty close to the wind.

I am interested that Robin can't shoot the Sheriff but can shoot poor, unfortunate random guy of the week. I mean, I know why, but it might be better if they didn't draw such attention to it.

Whoever wrote the scene that did actually go 'I shot the Sheriff.'
'No, you shot the deputy.'
Needs to be shot with arrows themselves. Some of the dialogue about Robin needing to be loved was a mite anvilicious as well.

Am interested in how they've done some of the casting because the Master at Arms was played by a black actor and no one batted an eyelid, and I'm like, seriously dudes, if you're going to go for realism then I expect batted eyelids.

Guy of Guisburne was being deliciously evil as usual, as was the Sheriff.

Remember I mock because I love. The Robin Hood myth, not this version, although it is kind of fun.
