Football and Ice Hockey

See, this is me totally ignoring all three of the Italian injuries and Nedved's injury and Smicer being totally out. I do feel really sorry for Cisse though, that was nasty.

Onto
Also know as the Group of Death, since it has Argentina, the Ivory Coast, Serbia and Montenegro and the Netherlands. And not one of those teams is bad. Sure, S&M are maybe not as good as the others (Lossi may well kill me for saying that), and the Ivory Coast might falter, but there should be some good games in this group. I'd still put my money on the Netherlands and Argenitna going through though.

As for future prospects, the Netherlands are, rather worryingly, not having one of their usual rifts, which could mean that they might do well. I'd like to hope that Argentina will do well, but that's only because I like the way they play football, and because Carlos Tevez will be playing for them and I think he's really good.



Other than that, I watched some of the second game of the Stanley Cup finals, and I have to ask, did both teams just agree to stop shaving at random because really, it's kind of hard to tell them apart now. And also because it really doesn't suit some of them.

It also reminds me of why I like Ice Hockey, it's one of the few sports that actually recognises the importance of goalkeepers.

One thing I found amusing was that after the first game one of the Edmonton players was complaining that he kept losing face-offs because the other guy was cheating, which not only smacks of sour grapes, but also makes me wonder what he expected, of course the other guy is going to do anything he can to win. I know I would be.

Spent last night at Danny's with Stu, Claire, Glen, Naomi and one of Danny's housemates, playing board games. Mostly 'Munchkin' which is so much fun. Seriously, I was laughing so hard I couldn't breathe at various points. And then we played 'Killing Dr. Lucky' which I must also recommend for it contains a good mix of strategy and twistedness that makes for lots of fun.

*giggles* Actually, it's sort of a playoff tradition. Those guys that can grow beards don't shave them off until after they've either lost in the playoffs or won the cup. Some of the guys that can't or shouldn't grow beards also join in. :-)

I thought it might be something like that since both teams were doing it, but it just looks so bad on some of them, like Ty Conklin and Commodore on the Hurricanes team. Admittedly it suits some of them too, but it's quite amusing when you're trying to figure out who everyone is. And when the two captains appear to be the only people without them.
