I love Later with Jools Holland

I love Jools Holland - Franz Ferdinand, Snow Patrol, Martha Wainright and Dr. John on one show.
I also have a horrid feeling that someone needs to pay Franz Ferdinand better because they seem to only have 4 shirts and are rotating them. No, seriously, the guitarist is wearing the same shirt the lead singer was wearing last time I saw them on TV.
And Nick Rhodes!
You know I think the reason I like Snow Patrol, despite them being the kind of soppy love songs that I should despise is that they're such sweetly hopeful songs - all 'life sucks, but you're my only hope'. That doesn't describe them half as well as I want to but it will have to do because there's the sweet hopefulness and a dark edge of hopelessness and its more than bittersweet, more bitter and then suddenly sweet.
Jools, I love thee - he's the only person I've ever heard call it the interweb in actual conversation. I also love Gnarls Barkley's Zorro theme. And their new song.
Jools has to have been practising his interviewing skills, it's no longer half as terrible as it used to be.
Re: James Morrison - we have one Jack Johnson already, and he's good and you're not. Go away. Before someone accuses me of being mean, yes I am, but if he doesn't have the decency to cover up his blatent style copying then I have no compunction with pointing them out. Take Jack Johnson, take away the Hawaii, take away the experience behind the songs (because seriously, this James Morrison isn't much older than me and you can tell) and the attitude and you have this wet lump trying to be him. Blech!
Actually it seems to be Martha Wainright with Snow Patrol - It really doesn't work. But it doesn't work for good reasons, like Joan Baez and Bob Dylan duetting didn't work. Two totally different styles but they tried bless them.
Reason why Later rocks, you see the other bands jiving along to the music. For instance, Snow Patrol jigging to Gnarls Barkley. Or the singer from Gnarls Barkley shaking his thing to Franz Ferdinand. And lending their drummers to the big drum-a-thon at the end. My comment that this is not that original is going to be made again.

Other than that, it's Saints v Bradford this afternoon. I will try and do some revision, but I wouldn't count on it.
We're going to lose so badly. Argh!

I shan't be watching the soccer aid thing on Monday, since Monday is quiz night, but dear me, how cool does the rest of the world team sound - Mattheus, Schmeichel, Zola, Ginola, Dunga and Desailly. And their non-footballers aren't bad given that the names Sergei Federov, David Campese and Eddie Irvine are involved.
Needless to say, the England team aren't half as cool.
