Slightly More Thought Upon Thoughts

There are some things that JKR does very, very well. Writing teenagers is one of them. Ron and Hermionie were so very right. As, in their horribly, horribly wrong way were Ron and Lavender. I swear my dislike of kissing stems from having to put up with far too many Ron 'n' Lavender types at school.
And Luna was just perfect. I <3 Luna so much. Her commentary on the Quidditch match was perfect. Want to hit Zacharias Smith though.
Slughorn was interesting. I also know far too many people like him. And I'm unfortunately similarly inclined.
The Gaunt family were the creepy kind of interesting. Also laughing at them being called Gaunt and the Royal family's tendency to marry their own cousins.
Little Tom Riddle is hardly less scary than Lord Voldemort. Ditto teenage Riddle. And score for the the DADA position being cursed jokes in previous books.
May I however chuck teenage Snape on the cheek for the whole 'Half Blood Prince', how precious.
I want to know what happened to Dumbledore's hand, because that had to be some serious hoo-doo. Ditto on the I want to know who RAB is. I mean I also want to know WTF is going on with Snape but I can wait for that. Okay so I can't but I'm learning to live with it. Until we get told for sure by the creatorix I am going with Snape being as part of Dumbledore's grand plan + under exacting orders not to let Draco follow in his Dark Arts type footsteps. That and the Unbreakable Vow could make Snape kill his mentor.
Also hee at Snape having girly handwriting.
The other thing that JKR got so right was the general atmosphere of fear. The way everyone was on edge. Dashed if I didn't want to hug the Weasleys because you could tell how worried they were and how much it was taking out of them. Why did it have to be one of theirs that got by Fenric?
Loved the way Molly suddenly realised that Fleur really does love Bill.
I also loved the way Ron was all "Anyone we know?" every time the Daily Prophet came. That's the spirit, Ron.
I am much with the Weasley love. (And I'm even edging towards forgiving Percy at the Christmas scene.)
Ron and Hermionie, not so much expected as bloody well fated ;)
Draco - I don't want to punch him anymore. In fact I feel kind of sorry for him. I've heard of a rock and a hard place, but this is ridiculous. Ditto Narcissa. That idiot Lucius dropping them in it. The scene with him and Dumbledore at the end is wonderfully painful.
I do wonder what is in that water.
I want to hug Hagrid. If Harry is Dumbledore's man, so is Hagrid. Loved him wholly, but especially that bit at the end, when they're talking about closing the school, and he said, "I'm here and I'll take any child who wants to be taught Care of Magical Creatures". (Hugs Hagrid because this will hit him hard.)
I love how grown up Harry is all of a sudden. Thankfully he's mostly finished with being angry capslocked Harry. He's not doing stupidly dangerous things on his own anymore, which is good, and he's trying to minimise the number of people dragged down with him - Ginny for instance.
And when he says he's Dumbledore's man I go all squishy inside. Please excuse me but I was brought up on the 3 Musketeers so I've got to love it.
Really liked this book.
In RL matters, digest worked, it looks like the gel purification didn't. Bugger!
Sorry about this...
