Sep. 17th, 2016 07:36 pmThe next book on my to-read list is in German.
This is deliberate. The only way I'm going to improve or even maintain my German is if I practise.
Now, one of the problems I have is that I don't read serious books. Or rather, if I'm going to read about serious topics, I prefer to read non-fiction, so a lot of the fiction I read is genre fiction. Trying to find books in German in the UK is difficult and in university towns almost always involves serious books.
So when I saw what looked like a fantasy novel in German I bought it without looking at it further.
I didn't notice the French name of the author, or that it's book one of a multi-part series.
So I'm reading book one in a series that's a translated book from the French. This could get interesting!
(Spoiler, at the minute it's all a bit generic high fantasy.)
