Some cheerful links
Aug. 11th, 2011 04:54 pmIn an attempt to bring some cheerful news, I like this article - It's about the preparations that a Premier League referee has to go through pre-season - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/14298805.stm It's written by Mark Halsey (or at least, him and a ghost-writer), who you might know in passing as the ref that had throat cancer. One of my favourite moments from last year was that the crowd (and players and managers) cheered him on and whinged about him like he was any other ref at all other times.
And also this one (http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/blogs/world-of-sport/article/64394/) about a 98 year-old woman who has just been made the 15th ever 10th Dan judoka. ( She is apparently made entire of determination and awesome. )
