Music and my housemates trying to gas me
Jun. 3rd, 2006 03:36 pmGot Kerrang - it was it's 25th Birthday edition - and the CD has various of today's bands doing covers of various classics. Haven't listened to it yet, but I plan to, if only for Atreyu doing a version of 'You Give Love a Bad Name'.
Anyway, in the new(ish) format, one page is given over to a quick review of a band, which their best album is and which tracks are essential. This week's band was Feeder, who I love and adore. Now, I think their best album is 'Yesterday Went Too Soon' but I'm used to music magazines disagreeing with me, so I was pleased when Kerrang agreed with me. Actually as a general rule, me and Kerrang do agree on a lot of things, hence why I buy it.
Anyway, then there's normally a little cut out where a member of another band declaims their liking of the band of the week, and this week it was the bassist from Muse, and he was saying how much he liked Feeder, especially touring with them, which they did on a mini-tour, Muse, Feeder and Three Colours Red.
At which point, I admit to a small amount of wibbliness because I remember wanting to go on said tour but realising it was impossible since I was 11, and I'm all amazed that it was ten years ago and the start of high school and how much everything has changed but other things haven't, noticeably my taste in bands because I still like Feeder and miss 3Colours Red something chronic.
Anyway then I watched Jools Holland and enjoyed it a lot, including a band called 'Hot Chip', who I'm not sure if I like or not. This was followed by the Top of the Pops Streets special, and I am muchly in love with them/him because it's so very, very British while still being hip-hop. Kind of.
Listen and you'll get what I mean.
Anyway, I'm writing fic in bed when the housemates come in, when I get a knock on the door. It's Nisha who is worriedly checking if I'm awake and more importantly, concious, given that someone (not me since I had takeaway) had left one of the gas hobs on and therefore the house was full of gas. I, of course, hadn't noticed which is reason number 2 why I don't want a gas cooker if I ever get a house of my own.
But yes, I had a fun time chilling out.
