Well I was supposed to be drunk by now having seen my friends play at the band night, but the twits have gone back to uni without telling me, or leaving a forwarding e-mail address, so I'm sober and feeling verbose. Not a good combo.

So I fear I shall have to bore you with a post about fic, and characters and so on.

I read in Mynx's journal that Batista was 35. After the initial reaction of OMG wore off I started thinking that this made some sort of sense. I'd been blithely assuming that Batista was of an age half way between Randy and HHH, and kept writing or saying in other words 'how old he seemed for his age'. Well, at least I can remove one cliche from various stalled works.

Admittedly part of the problem is that I always write Batista the same way when he's in a fic with the rest of Evolution. He's always "mother", he's the one that looks after everyone else, tries to keep the unit together and happy, has random attacks of conscience.

I've always put this particular brand of insanity down to him being first at any given trouble and putting himself in the way of anyone trying to attack the other members of Evolution.

Why does WWE have no long standing tag teams in recent memory that aren't related? Because this fic I'm trying to start is all about how far will you let your partner go. Now if said partner is your brother, you're more likely to let it go further, right?

Unfortunately the only teams I've come up with are the APA, whose limit is probably murder, T&A who were hardly the tag teamiest of tag teams, and one or other version of La Res.

And I can't use Kidman and London since they seem to be in the middle of falling apart after, you know, three months.

If I thought I could do her justice, I'd love to write Goldylocks fic. Because she's a hoot, a strange, bizarre, random interview interupting hoot.

I'd also love to write a Harry Potter fic concentrating on Lupin but I can't write him. Lupin and Snape in a gen two hander.

I always end up writing about the old characters because there are so many gaps in their story. It's like an atlas with all the major landmarks but nothing inbetween. And that's what I like writing, gap-fillers.

International Recommend-A-Movie Day. This means everyone should go to their LJ right now and tell their friends to watch a really good movie which most of them probably have not seen. And then tell more people to do it. Hopefully, we'll all have lots and lots of recommendations by the end of the day.

Sounds like a plan. So reviewing my list of favourite films, and thinking about what people on my friends list are likely to have seen, I must recommend Palookaville

Why? It's the strangest thing, a sad, melancholy piece about three men who, struggling to make ends meet, turn to robbery. And yet it's also uplifting.

It's sad, funny, whimsical and beautifully shot. And it looks real, it feels real. You can smell the damp and the baby food. The score is also nice, it fits in well with the general tone.

The three main characters also follow this real trend. At various points their hopeless, helpless and useless. And lovable, kind, sweet and decent. You want things to go right for them. And yet fate keeps conspiring against them.

Of course this description is useless, because I'm trying not to give away what happens, not because it's a thriller or there's a twist, but because the storyline progresses organically out of the things that the three of them do and I don't want to spoil it with my heavy-handed descriptions.

And now it's over to you.

I missed most of TNA this week due to having a memory like a sieve. What I did see was
- Frankie Kazarian looking manically happy at winning the X-title.
- Loved the rest of Team NWA coming out to help Sabin. It's little things like that that I like.
- Dear NWA and the world in general, including the English media, the names United Kingdom and Great Britain are interchangable. The name England is not interchangable with either of the above, unless you want to deal with the Scots, the Norther Irish and the Welsh.

-Sting as the enforcer. I have no idea what his function was supposed to be but he looked like he was having fun. Yay Sting! The look of joy on his face when Raven decided to punch him was also deeply amusing.
- the simultaneous over the top suicide dives were cool.
- Raven, you are the master of all high sneakiness. Throwing in the towel when AJ didn't know whether to trust Russo was a masterstroke. I bow before you. (or the writers or whoever. Someone deserves cookies)

And that's it.
