Juve v Real Madrid
May. 15th, 2003 06:18 pmIs it possible to be ecstatic and weepy at the same time. Because they did it, the lovely boys actually did it. Juve managed to beat Real Madrid.
Right so Juve scored two (Trezugeut with a scorcher and Del Piero) then Zindane scored for Real(and despite my not liking them I like him so it's no bad) putting everyone equal on goals and away goals.
Then Zambrotta passed the ball to Nedved, he shoots, he scores. Nedved scores the winning goal.
And promptly gets a yellow card, which means he's suspended for the final.
And he looked so sad.
From eurosport.com - Nedved says 'I am so sad I could die-http://www.eurosport.com/home/pages/V3/L0/S22/E5140/sport_Lng0_Spo22_Evt5140_Sto432583.shtml
which other than showing he's a little over-emotional at the moment, show just how much it meant to him.
And just how much that bastard referee had it in for Juve. Now normally, I'm quite sane about referees, but when this one not only lets a goal stand where there were 4 players offside, and his linesman had informed him of this, and then gets rid of the best player on the Juventus side just in time for the final, I reserve the right to get a little antsy.
And before anyone says the black and white is blinding me to the obvious, and that Nedved's was a hard tackle, I'm not debating this. It just wasn't a bookable offense.
A lot of Juve's players aren't angels. Montero (who was suspended for this match) still holds the record for sendings off in Seria A (which takes some doing) and Zambrotta would delight in kicking a man while he's down (that boy shows promise of being truly vicious at times) but Nedved's not like that.
Oh yeah, I'm happy/upset.
