At least the pictures don't show the look in his eyes. He scored the goal that he thought would send Italy through and while he was celebrating someone told him the score in the other match that meant Italy couldn't go through.

The worst of it is that I can't even feel annoyed about who qualified because I like Denmark and Sweden.
The only good thing is that for once Paolo Maldini doesn't have to pick up the pieces. That's one of the lingering images of Euro 2000 in my mind, Italy lose in the worst possible way and Maldini is upset, but because he's captain he has to go around to all his players and make them feel better.
