I have never seen an episode of Discovery, or Picard, or Lower Decks, or Prodigy or Strange New Worlds.
Why is that?
Well, it used to be that the shows would debut in the US and then 2 years later, they'd be on UK TV. Later, that changed to a year, or half a year. So you waited and, as long as you avoided spoilers, it was fine.
Nowadays, everything is on streaming services and never gets onto terrestrial TV so I have no chance. I don't have the money for twelve different streaming services so I don't bother with any of them. They don't release DVDs (or if they do, I haven't seen them anywhere) so I have no chance of watching them.
Desperately wanting to watch the recent Netflix version of The Count of Monte Cristo means I now have a new ahem-ing source (not that I could find a torrent for that Count), but when the only way most people can watch a show is by illicit means, that's not a good sign for television as a whole as a mass art form.
