So the good news is that work are sending me to a really cool conference.

The bad news is they're insisting on black and white as the colours, which means a black suit for me, for a conference at the end of July. Not a problem, except the buying of the item (because I do not own a black suit). Fine, I'm sure somewhere will be selling them.

What I want to know, is how broiled am I going to be in a suit in Anaheim at the end of July.

it's gonna be hot. but you're probably not going to do much walking around outside in Anaheim bc there's like... nothing there.

(though, you are just a short train ride from San Diego, which is much cooler 😎)

The organisers have gone with "this hotel is only a 20 minute walk from the conference centre so there is no shuttle" and it's like "you have underestimated how much I can sweat in a 20 minute walk."

(Attending this is entirely part of my campaign to be allowed to the conference in San Diego in December and be allowed to stay on an extra couple of days)

Have they confirmed you can actually make that walk? Anaheim is a car-driven hellscape... I'd put some money into a taxi budget.

And woo! San Diego in December is so nice! Beach bonfire season!

Sadly I have been told it is not me. I am having to be a nice not-actual-supervisor and let one of the other (really specific job title)s go instead.

I'd actually be okay with this if it wasn't for the US office making it obvious that they intended to use me as a human sacrifice if there are any angry customers at Anaheim.

Luckily, they have to pay for us as it's a business trip. Unfortunately, the amounts haven't been raised since I started with the company (2017), so I am going to have to, again, sit down with him again and explain that he is allowed to go over the budget as long as it's reasonable and there's a receipt.

Boss of other dept. who I mentioned in London has volunteered to head off angriest customer so it should be alright. Now to convince the US team about all the things they can't talk about that they think we can talk about.
