Re: The recent twink discussion - okay I have made jokes about Shannon looking like a 13 year old girl. Everyone does, although judging by his match against Ultimo Dragon he now looks more like a 13 year old boy ;), but I don't get the twinking thing.

This might just be my lack of experience, because I've never met a guy gay, straight or anywhere between who acted that way. I know some guys who are camp, I know a fair few straight guys who are camper than a row of tents, but not twinkish.

But what do I know.

There is a bunny foetus thinking of growing into a fic, about May to December relationships, but what's startling me is that if I think about writing Flair/Orton it's nice, fluffy and they're supportive of each other whereas Piper/O'Haire ideas always end up dark and nasty. All four act as heels but is there something about them that tends to lead to ideas like this.

The only thing stopping me writing this Shaniqua/Benoit fic (and yes, the positioning of the slash is important), other than my inexperience, is that I want Shaniqua all to myself.

Of course I'm likely to miss her appearance this week but so far colour me happy.

Most people I've talked with about it see the twinking that's so rampant in fic as a symptom of the fact that most of the writers are teenage girls. They write what they know, which is teenage girls, and they don't have the experience to tell them that males do not behave like that.

Do they go to all girls schools or something because even at 12 I knew that the male half of the species do not tend to be simpering nitwits?! I despair sometimes I really do.

They're writing what they want to read, though. They want men to behave like they do. They're at an age where they're examining their own sexual and romantic feelings. They may realise, some of them, that men don't deal with those things the same way, but they don't know HOW men deal with them, so they don't think about it, and essentially end up writing about teenage girls who happen to have penises.

So in fact, twinkage can be seen as barely disguised Mary-Sewage.

It's been said before, probably more elloquently: but the girls having this discussion on the list are obviously teenagers who are transitioning from playing dress-up with dolls to playing emotional dress-up with their "musi".

It's basically a safe way to express their fantasies, so that they, themselves, don't have to be involved in them.

Now, see, I think you should take that bunny and write it; maybe combine the bunnies and give us two parallel takes on May/December romances in two different relationships?

But dress up with dolls is fun ;) And I suppose however annoying twinking is, at least, like you said, it keeps them out of mischief.

Now that is an idea (ponders)

*chuckles* but the idea of a cheerleader Kevin Nash doll! ;-)

I think it'd be interesting to dichotomize the two relationships, since you see one as hearts-and-flowers and the other as being sexually aggressive/darker.
