I keep forgetting that one of the problems with TNA is that if you skip a few weeks you have one of two reactions:

1 - They're still doing this!!

2 - Who is a bad guy now!!

Although this week's show was actually good.

I never thought I'd be so happy to see Madison Rayne, but I am. Good little match (her vs Gail), acceptable levels of good guy cheating since Gail's equaliser was in the vicinity, now if only we could get the commentary team to focus on the match in hand.

Rockstar Spud is love. I would legitimately watch a sitcom with him and Sting or him and AJ Styles in, and their travelling adventures.

When did we go from Sam Shaw, adorable adrenaline freak, to Samuel Shaw, serial killer in waiting?

Apparently my darlin' Cowboy is a cheating varmint or at least a violent varmint. (Apparently Gunnar got the title shot case in Feast or Fired and it should be Storm's shot, according to James Storm.)

Anyway, this is what caused the squeaking, because Kurt Angle chose Gunnar to be his partner for his match vs Bobby Roode, and along wandered James Storm muttering darkly about how Gunnar wasn't all that and was Angle sure he wanted him, and also, if Angle didn't want him [Storm] as a partner, he'd find someone who would.

And I thought, no, he can't mean ..., he couldn't possibly mean ... Anyway, we then see him going into a locker room going "just who I wanted to see."

Cue break for further EC3 shenanigans and a round up of what had gone on on the last few Impacts (adios J. Hardy, EC3 et al beating Sting 'n' Hardy, the actually wonderful ODB post match vs Lei'D Tapa promo which I cannot find online which annoys me because it was wonderful. And yes, I am biased, because it's just so rare to find a Anglophone women's wrestling feud that's based on "I just want to beat her because violence", not "she's a giant meany face" or some other personality clash. And she was so nice about Madison Rayne. And I'm sorry, I want to be ODB when I grow up.

Then came the thing that caused the actual squeaking. Because Bobby Roode is talking to someone who is off-camera saying "why should I pick you, I know I can't trust you." On walks Storm who goes "because you know I want to hurt Gunnar, and if you don't, I'll be out there anyway, attacking everyone." So of course I squeak. Because of the idea of Beer Money getting back together. It's not the squeak I am reserving for if AMW ever reform (that squeak would be so high-pitched Jodrell Bank would have issues hearing it), but it was mighty and squeaky.

This was followed by more of the heel! Sabin nonsense. I just don't get why Velvet Sky doesn't just DTMFA. I also don't get why Austin Aries, Greatest Man Alive gimmick and all, doesn't just seduce Velvet out from underneath Sabin. I also object to this nonsense being the only thing going on in the X-Division.

Then Angle and Gunnar come out, followed by Roode and you've guessed who. And lo, my heart did squeak. As did those of the Impact audience who apparently couldn't resist a cheer of "Beer! Money!" for the bad guys. I will never love Beer Money as much as AMW, oh the tag team of my heart, but it did warm the cockles of my heart. Of course, team bad guy won, followed by Gunnar Hulking up and Roode vamoosing at speed.

Then came Magnus's coronation, which descended into the expected farce, in a good way, when suddenly a be-hoodied figure leapt the rails and basically went "I have a belt, you have a belt, let's find out which of us is the true champion." And Dixie told Magnus "no," he must not fall for AJ's evil wiles, and Magnus told her to shut up and did the Magnus equivalent of "bring it".

It just worked so well, because it made it clear that while Magnus was Dixie's evil champion (versus the good, righteous AJ Styles, the people's champion), he was still his own man and not her lapdog like EC3 or Rockstar Spud.

The Samuel Shaw character developments were relegated to YouTube.

Shame, because as far as wrestling vignettes go they aren't bad.

Ah that makes some sense, even if it seems to have gone further. And I thought plain chokes weren't allowed in wrestling ;)
