I have, to use a tumblrism, Mandarin feels.
There's no good way of saying this but the Mandarin (cartoon version) is my favourite Iron Man villain. I think its because he was such a good foil for Iron Man because suit vs rings is a draw so it comes down to brains. So he's very much my concept of THE Iron Man villain and I fear they are going to do something stupid with/to him.
I also worry about how the film is going to give Tony Stark anything like a character arc because we already know what he is without the suit, "genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist" and we already know what happens if you try to take those away from him - a hint to future bad guys, do not leave him in a room with a box of scraps, he's a one man A-Team.
It's starting to look like "Renegade Section 31 Agent - The Movie" or possibly "The Maquis - The Movie". I could live with the second one if done properly, but I suspect it's going to be the first, which is :( I've never much liked the idea of Section 31, I can see why Trek went there and DS9 did it brilliantly (it's a fine example of something I hate but acknowledge to be well done) but I don't like it as an idea.
I'm not sure how I feel about Cumberbundle's character looking so cool. Cool villains in Hollywood films tend to skew things.
Also, no, Reboot Kirk, Starfleet should not be about vengeance. See "Day of the Dove", see "Let The Be Your Last Battlefield", see most of Star Trek: The Undiscovered Country, see, oddly enough, chunks of Wrath of Khan. To paraphrase buff mousey-brown haired ubermensch number 2 (sorry, I'm sure the character has a real name but) Kahn and his men could have taken the Reliant anywhere and lived long lives on a planet less terrible than Ceti Alpha V. But Kahn was too blinded by vengeance to see that so they all died horribly.
Have I mentioned yet that I don't like how they write Kirk?
From the trailer, I feel this film may have been written while all concerned were high on petrol fumes. Whether this is good or bad depends on how tolerant you are of the usual Fast and Furious nonsense.
Spoilers
Letty is alive! And involved in what looks like a stonking, well-choreographed fight scene. And is the subject of a line which made me flail. So, she shoots Dom and Brian is patching him up and says "Maybe the Letty we once knew is gone." Dom replies with "You don't turn your back on family, even when they do." And it's like Dominic Toretto's philosophy of life in one shot and I am flail!!
