- Reply to this post with the phrase I LOVED YOU ACROSS TIME and I will pick six of your icons.
- Make a post (including this info) and talk about the icons I chose.
- Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
- This will create a never ending cycle of icon glee.

1.

I wanted an icon for my science posts, and I wanted it to be related to the specific area I work in (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance spectroscopy, normally shortened to NMR), so I did a quick google search for NMR spectra, because I figured, if it was google-available, I wasn't spoiling anyone's results. The image is from a 1D NMR spectrum of a mysteriously unnamed Streptococcus protein.

Fencing, which I spend far too much of my time doing, is both a brilliant sport for photographers, and a terrible one, because of the speed of movement. I strongly suspect this image was originally a still from a video, probably one instructing you how to do a flick hit to wrist. I grabbed it from the BBC website, where it was their image for fencing for the last Olympics.

The one fault of the image is that it is of an epee, which is not the weapon I mainly do, but it's about as good a one as I'm going to get.

3.

The latest in my series of numbered Doctor icons. This was taken from a shot from the first episode of the new series, and I really need to make a better one now that there are more images, because I love 11 very, very much indeed and he deserves a better icon. The problem is finding a decent picture because Matt Smith is one of those actors who looks a lot better when he's moving.

It's Owen from Torchwood, taken from the publicity shots for series 2, I think. Torchwood is a badly undervalued show, to my mind, and Owen is my favourite character from it.

I was hunting for Owen icons and this one really spoke to me because it captures his glorious snottiness, there is a reason that I call him 'Owent the Slapable'.

As Torchwood, or at least version 1 of it, is now over, I really ought to swap it out for a different icon, but I just can't bring myself to do it. It may well end up splitting the time with my Sherlock Holmes icon once I make it.

It's a picture of Kurogane from Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles, which I'm still reading through. Again, he's my favourite character in the manga, because he's so brave, and pleasingly obnoxious at the same time. I cannot go into further details without spoilers.

It's a really nicely frame image and it's got the right colours - in TRC, Kurogane is associated with red and black - and I think that it captures him well.

This is actually one of [livejournal.com profile] fileg's :) I first saw this in one of her icon posts, and thought it was a really good combination of image and effects.

Later, when I realised I wrote quite a bit about sci-fi, I wanted a sci-fi icon, and what better than one of my favourite Trek characters. It was totally an excuse to use this icon, which rather niftily also covers music, which means I can get a lot of use out of 1 icon space.
