So, start of my fourth year, I check with my housemate that's my landlord that it's okay that I stay until I finish writing up which will probably be the end of September 2010. He says, 'yeah, fine, not thinking of moving anyone extra in'.

My Mum, being wise, says double check when I get back start of this year. So I ask, and I get 'yeah, fine, not thinking of moving anyone extra in'.

His Dad comes up about a month ago. He's very nice (terrifies the bejasus out of me, but nice) and says not to worry, and how I can stay as long as I need to because he understands the PhD problem.

Just now, I overhear housemately landlord and girlfriend talking, and for all that they say they can't hear any of my music, I can hear 9/10ths of what they say, and I hear 'but it'd be silly to hold a room open for her if she's only going to need it for a month.' And so, I'm thinking, here it goes.

About 2 minutes 30 later (half way through Monkey Wrench), I get a knock on my door. It's the housemately landlord. He wants to ask me a question. Him and the girlfriend know this guy, who's going to be starting a post-grad something this year, and they were thinking of moving him in. But obviously, there's no pressure on me to move out early. When am I thinking of moving out?

(I like his definition of no pressure)

So I ponder this, being as how I'm really worried about not making my deadline, not by much, but by a couple of weeks. So I say, I'm not going to be able to hand in until late September, and then I have to move my junk out so say, first week of October, which ought to give me some room. I mean at worst, and she'll kill me for it, I'll move into halls for a couple of weeks and get my Mum to pack up my stuff while I finish off.

But this is stress I could do with out, especially, as, if I'd known this this year, I could have sorted something out for myself earlier.

Argh!

... He tells you there's someone else he wants to move in, wants to know when you're leaving, and calls that "no pressure"? What planet is this person living on?

Urgh. Sorry you're having to deal with that stress, too, on top of everything else.

He lives on Planet Dave. It's an interesting planet, with no money but lots of trains. It has no connection to Earth that we can tell.

Thanks for the well wishes. I have most of a plan so I should be okay.

Obviously if you need sofa space during your writeup period I can provide you with that. :)
