Um, yeah, you might have noticed a lack of comments re: Who lately, but that's because I wasn't home to watch Blink or Utopia. I have been assured I shall be terrified to death by the first and love the second though.

I did watch "Human Nature" when it was on (both parts) and well, um, I um. Well I really didn't like it as much as everyone else did. Not that it was bad, it was good, well set up, well shot, the music wasn't too bad but there was something lacking. I didn't dislike John Smith as much as other people seemed to, I was mostly thinking what a bang up job the TARDIS did of making someone who would fit in and not be noticed. I was also deeply amused by how Time Lordly the Doctor was when he didn't have his experiences.

I really liked the Nurse too, and the kidlet (who, my hasn't he shot up since Love, Actually). Also, Harry Lloyd now also joins most of the rest of the cast of the new Robin Hood as being a better actor than Jonas Armstrong.

But yes, despite what the Doctor did to the bad guys, I still just didn't think it was that good.

Was fantastic.

I don't know what I loved more, the writing, the filming, John Simm, Mrs. Saxon, the Torchwoodite who figured it all out, Captain Jack being back, that the Master is insane and clever, the bit on Gallifrey (OMG the visuals and the silly cloak is back), the way the referenced the past, the speed, the wit, the vim, the vigour, the 'you too' moment, that the Valiant was in fact Spectrum headquarters, that the one thing the Master can do to really, really upset the Doctor is to damage the TARDIS, the battle bot aliens.

Really so much love for this episode. I didn't see who the writer was at the start and so when I looked it up on-line I was both pleased and surprised that it was RTD. Because I love his episodes, but I seem to be the only one that does, so I love that one of his once again hit meteoric. He's not Moffat, but damn if he's not the second best writer on the staff.

Also things that were beyond amusing:

The Valiant looks just like Spectrum headquarters.
My straight-laced, serious, sensible housemate is now a raving John Barrowman fan.
That aforementioned housemate was making comments re: the slashiness of the Doctor and the Master and was most relieved when I assured her that this was normal for Dr. Who fandom and had been a running joke for a good 20 years.

I don't think I've been shy about my dislike of 10. How come when I finally start warming up to him (and it is a finally, I spent most of series 2 wanting him dead) everyone else starts declaiming his uselessness?

The housemate previously mentioned wants the Master to stay and to get rid of the Doctor. Mum won't want any of the 10 episodes, which since she's watched since '63 is bad (don't worry, I shall wean her back onto Who when I go home).

I mean, it could just be that familiarity is breeding contempt because I remember being most hurt when people where being all 'thank goodness 9 is gone, we like 10 more' and now it's all the other way round.

It is most bizarre.
