You were going to get a squeeful post about the cycling. Instead you're going to get a squeeful post about Ghost Rider.

Because, contrary to what you might have read, it's a fun little film.

I'm not going to pretend it was good, but it was enjoyable. A nice little popcorn flick.

I quite liked the kid they had playing Johnny Blaze at the start, and, other than the name factor, I don't see why they had to change him into Nicholas Cage.

That being said, I think Cage brought his A-game. Yes, he still over-acted, or under-acted, or however you describe Nicholas Cage's acting style, but it worked. It was a terribly written part (I mean, I'm used to heroes having to be dumb for plot reasons, I've never known them to actually be that stupid before) but he seemed to be having a blast. Also, he must have been working out like a demon, because he's gone ridiculously skinny but with muscles rather than wasting away dieting.

Peter Fonda on the other hand. Well, he was probably the weakest part of the acting line-up. Wes Bentley was a bit off too, but then again, he too had sucky lines. This is not a film you see for the script. Although he and his posse were beaten far too easily, which seems to be one of the problems with some of the Marvel adaptations. And him and Wallow (I think) were far too pretty for words. Seriously, dear Australia, what are you putting in your water?

It does remind me why I've pretty much given up watching 'mainstream' movies, it's the same reason I don't read 'mainstream' books. They don't give me the same thrill. Because you can't tell me there's not something ineffably cool about a stunt biker jumping over some helicopters, particularly when he jokes that he has, at least, taken out the cars.

Or the whole chase where he's trying to get Roxanna to pull over.

Or the scene with the two Ghost Riders. In fact, any time that Sam Elliot is on screen in any way. Because he rocks. But that scene in particular. Especially where Johnny's all 'we' and he saddles up, and Johnny asks if he can keep up and the horse goes all flame on.

PS: Why yes, the Fantastic Four 2 preview was shown before I watched this.

I got my cowboy fix for the week, and it was good.

Although I wanted more smack down of Blackheart for killing Mack. I was not happy about that.

I really liked Roxanna the love interest (and Stuart her camera-monkey) and really the casting directors did a bang-up job because the actress that played younger her looked almost exactly like Eva Mendes, to the point of me not noticing that there were two actresses playing that part.

Now I must hunt down whoever did the 'Ghost Riders in the Sky' techno version in the sound track, and either kiss them or kill them.
