I do feel I'd better comment on 'The Girl in the Fireplace'.

I enjoyed it immensely. I mean, I missed the first 5 minute (stupid BBC changing the start time) but I didn't feel its absense.

I did love the clockwork robots. Both their outsides and their insides. The detail on that clockwork. Sorry, I'll get over how cool they were at some point, but that day is not today.

What they did made so much computer sense. Loved the reveal of the reason at the end.

I also muchly loved the court scene and Louis the Sun King, who I want to say is 14 but goodness knows I get my Louis muddled.

I even liked Mdm. Pompadour, mostly because much like the Doctor, I've had previous history related exposure to her and know she was deeply cool. Have I pointed out how good a job whoever was playing Louis did at convincing me that he loved her lots.

I didn't mind what the Doctor did because basically, Mdm. Pompadour was a stabilising influence on the French court and therefore needed to be saved by any means necessary, and since due to being part of the timeline, he couldn't use the TARDIS, hence white knight to the rescue mode. Which I thought was cool, but you know my weakness for people charging about on horses.

The plot all made something that resembled sense, and included the Doctor making a mistake, something the Old-Skool fan in me appreciated.

I enjoyed it.

(I also assume his plan was to wait for the first doctor to appear in France during his episode in the French revolution, steal the TARDIS, go to the space ship just after he left and then send the 1st Doctor's TARDIS back to it's own time and hope that he doesn't blow a huge rift in the space time continuum thingy.)

Also, Mickey at the end pulling Rose away so that the Doctor could have some privacy, this is why Mickey rocks. (starts an 'Oh Mickey' chant) I will be very unhappy if he is killed by Cybermen. Very.

I love my housemates friends, especially the one that was over last night, but gods if they weren't loud and I need sleep.

Also saw 'Pirates of the 3rd Reich' CSI:Vegas ep 6x15, and seriously, the writer is the crazy demented. Brilliantly fucked up episode.

It worries me, that having looked up his name, he wrote for ALF.

Y'know, I agree with every single thing you said about that ep of Dr. Who. Then again, I have an unhealthy obsession with France and all things French, so this shouldn't be surprising.

And gah, Pirates of the 3rd Reich was a great ep, except it ended in the most horribly abrupt fashion ever and would probably have worked better as a two-parter. It was sort of like everything was really crammed in there to get it down to an hour and not two.
