Dundee do not want me.
I think I'm supposed to be reacting to this with more than slight annoyance and worry. I think I'm supposed to be angry. But I'm not. They're a world class establishment and I'm not even the best student in my year at uni. Reading between the lines of their reply, it came down to me and someone else and the someone else got it. I can't be too angry at that.
The only thing that is a bit galling is that it would have been the perfect project.
There's actually a really good one that's similar down at Cambridge. Unfortunately, it's plant biology. Which would be cool because I've always had a deeply hidden interest in plants. But the trouble is it would be in plant bio and once you're in plant bio you can't get out. It's treated very much as a lesser field, which is quite annoying, people look at you like you're mad if you say you're into plants.
So I'm not sure whether to apply.
I am back on the application roundabout though, I've sent seven e-mails of interest off tonight. It'll be interesting to see if I hear back from any of them. I doubt it.
Trouble is, I need a PhD place next year. I mean, I could try and go into industry and then do a PhD later except I'd rather not. Although most of the big pharmas do have kinase places.
Anyway, that reminds me, must go do more reading.
