Two end of year memes I felt like posting
Dec. 30th, 2005 12:11 am![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
1) Was 2005 a good year for you?
It was okay. It wasn't bad but various things didn't happen and various things did happen that didn't make it as good as last year. That doesn't mean it wasn't a good year, it just suffers in comparrison.
2) What was your favorite moment of the year?
Winning county foil was nifty. But probably Danny's party in Hamburg and Mez's party the weekend before was one hell of a fortnight.
3) What was your least favorite moment of the year?
Simple, Babs trying to set me up with Penzy, indeed everyone trying to set me up with Penzy, at least with Dan I know I'm not going to accidentally hurt him.
4) Where were you when 2005 began?
Next door but one, partying and quizzing.
5) Who were you with?
Mum, Phil, Colin, Helena and Chris.
6) Where will you be when 2005 ends?
Probably the same. I hate going out at home, none of the fencers live anywhere near me, and I refuse to go out at home anymore.
7) Who will you be with when 2005 ends?
Also the same, possibly without Chris since he and Helena divorced.
8) Did you keep your new years resolution of 2005?
Failed miserably. It was not drinking as much.
9) Do you have a new years resolution for 2006?
Be nicer. Don't freak out. Decide a certain thing one way or the other.
10) Did you fall in love in 2005?
Nope. I stayed in love mind.
11) If yes, with who?
That boy Well we know how that turned out.
12) If yes, do they know?
No.
14) Do you regret it?
Nope.
15) Did you breakup with anyone in 2005?
No.
16) Did you make any new friends in 2005?
Katie, El, Tom, Andy, newbie fencers in general, random other people. I'd say yes.
17) Who are your favorite new friends?
Katie. She might be oversexed and over here but dashed if I don't like her lots.
18) What was your favorite month of 2005?
July - Danny's party, Mez's party, started my summer placement.
19) Did you travel outside of the US in 2005?
Changing that to the UK since I don't live in the US. Yes, to go to Germany.
20) How many different states did you travel to in 2005?
Only managed 2 countries, UK and Germany. And Holland, but that was a transit stop rather than a visit.
21) Did you lose anybody close to you in 2005?
Not that I recall.
22) Did you miss anybody in the past year?
Salmon. And Sam. But that's it really. Next year though, I'm going to miss this lot.
23) What was your favorite movie that you saw in 2005?
Sin City. Probably.
24) What was your favorite song from 2005?
Modern Way by the Kaiser Chiefs. Again with the probably.
25) What was your favorite record from 2005?
Employment by the Kaisers, probably.
26) How many concerts did you see in 2005?
None. At least I don't recall any.
27) Did you have a favorite concert in 2005?
N/A
28) Did you drink a lot of alcohol in 2005?
Far too much.
29) Did you do a lot of drugs in 2005?
Nope, not my scene.
30) How many people did you sleep with in 2005?
1. Hideous mistake. Huge hideous mistake. Even if it did kind of prove a point.
31) Did you do anything you are ashamed of this year?
Not that I recall. For me to be ashamed of the mistake involved in 30, would involve other people finding out.
33) What was the worst lie someone told you in 2005?
I don't remember any huge lies.
34) Did you treat somebody badly in 2005?
Various fencers, but they deserved it. Phil. But again he deserved it.
35) Did somebody treat you badly in 2005?
No. Chris seems to be determined to cause me to have a fit but I don't care. I've handed in the forms he can't mess with them no matter what.
36) How much money did you spend in 2005?
Far too much. This is why summer placement money rocks.
37) What was your proudest moment of 2005?
Summer placement - getting thereof.
38) What was your most embarrassing moment of 2005?
Didn't do anything stupid. Except entering BUSA individual. Which was stupid.
39) If you could go back in time to any moment of 2005 and change something, what would it be?
Have told the boy before Katie made her move. Except I wouldn't. Fuck knows. See, confusion reigns as normal.
40) What are your plans for 2006?
Get a 2:1, 1st if possible (which it isn't). Avoid sleeping with any fencers, kissing or otherwise having any romantic involvement with them. Get into a decent uni for my pHD.
This year's fic round up
Stories I wrote this year:
Tea and Wrestlemania - Molly+Regal gen fic for Missy
Never Underestimate Michael Cole - Post SD 9/6 (where Angle beat up Tazz) Cole gen
1 x X-men drabble for Lizzie
1 x Spiderman drabble for Joanne
Standing At The Doorframe - Benoit/Jericho fluff.
Clothes My Forefathers Wore - Sonny Siaki + Simon Diamond gen set when those two were partnered up against NYC.
The Primrose Path - First story of 4 all about Snape joining the Death Eaters and then leaving them. Gen with elements of het.
Suprise Night - Ric/Randy post 1/2/05 RAW
Don't Ask For The Moon - Dupree/Grenier fic set after the first lottery.
Changes Confronted - Rogue/Pyro for the XMM ficathon
First set of Fingertips challenge responses
The Withered Hand - Dumbledore + Snape gen set before HBP. Again first in a series.
The Withered Hand (pt 2) - Snape, Narcissa and Draco gen set immediately after the certain event in HBP
No Credit For Tchaikovsky - Tajiri/Noble fic for Lenac's 'hidden talents' challenge
Necessity - Nidia fic for the Factory Town AU
Running Late - Hay Daze set up fic also for Factory Town
And now, the actual meme:
My favorite story this year: Primrose Path, if only certain parts of it hadn't been jossed into infinity by HBP. Then again, I think with a bit of tinkering it will still work.
My best story this year: I still really like the Star Wars snippet I wrote for the Fingertips thing. It's the sort of fic I want to write more of. Short sentences, flashes of detail. No digressions.
Story most underappreciated by the universe, in my opinion: Any of the Potter-fic because I got one piece of feedback between the 3 of them and they're better than some fics I get lots of feedback from.
Most fun story: Never Underestimate Michael Cole. Still a hoot to read.
Most sexy story: I have been writing a lot of gen this year so Don't Ask For The Moon probably wins this category.
Story with single sexiest moment: No Credit For Tchaikovsky - where Tajiri's hand briefly touches Noble's.
Hardest story to write: Don't Ask For The Moon, seriously, everything else kind of flowed, or flowed in fits and starts. That one, I was lucky when one sentence flowed straight out.
"Holy crap, that's *wrong*, even for you" story: Since I refuse to call Ric/Randy wrong (it's not I tell you, it's not), 'No Credit For Tchaikovsky' since it's Tajiri/Noble, even though I swear there was a tonne of mineable subtext there.
Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters: Probably 'Necessity', I mean I always knew where Nidia's character was going, because trust me, her arc is plotted out in my head, but that was when I realised exactly how much she wanted to and how ruthless she was going to be. There's a fic, 7 or 8 fics down the line, that I really don't want to write, and the main reason I don't want to write it is things that have come into focus from this.
Biggest disappointment: Don't Ask For The Moon - that should have been so much better. I'm still trying to figure out where it went wrong.
Biggest surprise: Necessity - I never thought I could pull it off, but people got what I was going on about and the why of Nidia and the worry for the future.
Most unintentionally telling story: Actually, very few of the characters in the fics got any of my bad habits or neuroses. The closest is probably Snape in Primrose Path.
And also my excuse for my hideous lack of output Uni has been kicking my ass, and I've been working on some stupidly long fics. And my unfinished or need tidying up pile is huge, so expect a stupid amount of fic this summer.
