AU Meme - Day 23 - Pre-21st Century
Oct. 15th, 2022 04:30 pmOr, whoever came up with this meme decided to punish me for being insufficiently sympathetic to my Mother when Doctor Who decided to call something she remembered a historical episode.
Because just say "historical AU" and don't make me feel quite so old and haggard because I remember "pre-21st century".
You're getting meta, in case that wasn't obvious, although there's a different fic challenge, waiting for me to get a bit further with my 50 Kinky Ways fics, that will see a fun Stephanie McMahon (-Helmsley) Roman AU if I ever manage to get around to writing it.
Wrestling, to an extent, is the easiest fandom I write in to send into a historical AU, but I tend to find I need a specific when to send them to, or rather, certain characters only work in some places. (Like, I cannot figure out how to make Roman Undertaker, but could probably shove him somewhere in the Vikings.)
Doctor Who, Torchwood and technically Star Trek have time travel (although how would we feel about Gary Seven and his cat* in the modern world?), so it doesn't quite work, and Marvel have run "Elseworlds" in historical settings so I don't think there's a need.
