I've re-arranged the order of the questions, for reasons that will become clear.

The first Star Trek episode I ever saw was 'Skin of Evil'. At most, I would have been 5. And let me assure you that 'Skin of Evil' is terrifying at that age.

So I refused to watch any more Star Trek ever. The theme tune alone would send me scurrying out of the room. I'd sit on the stairs reading my girl cousin's books for 45 minutes rather than watch it.

One day, in winter-time, the house was being renovated and it was literally too cold to let a small child sit on the stairs, so the grown-ups had to coax me into staying in the living room somehow. I indicated that I was terrified of Star Trek, and it was explained to me that this was not the same Star Trek.

I was highly dubious about this, because as we all know, adults lie to children all the time. But I agree to stay (as it was very, very cold). And I give the grown-ups this, the clothes were different. And it felt like a very different show. And the guy in blue was awesome. The one with ears.

So yeah, the first episode I ever saw was 'Skin of Evil' but it is by no means the episode that made me like Star Trek.
