It's interesting to see how what you read affects how you perceive other things. So a few months ago I read Pox: Genius, Madness, and the Mysteries of Syphilis. And as I was reading 'The Fall of the House of Usher' one of my first thoughts was 'are we sure Usher hasn't got syphilis?' because the some of the symptoms were so similar. And it's not something I would have thought of before reading Pox: etc.
