It's that time of whenever they remember to have it again, and this time England (including those most English of cities, Cardiff, Limerick, Neath, Wrexham, Avignon and Perpignan) are hosting.

Of course, all the England fans are bullish about the chances of an England success. Not!
Matters are really not helped when you consider that England lost to Italy, who are one of the minnows in this sport (http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/rugby-league/24565586), which lead to as yet unnamed England squad members* going out on a bender and Gareth Hock getting thrown out of the squad (http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/rugby-league/24632851) presumably for being the ringleader or having the worst pre-existing disciplinary record.
So now, with McIllorum and Graham mysteriously also absent from the squad to face Australia and the Australian team they are facing (http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/rugby-league/24650021 **) it is safe to say that everyone is feeling a little down.
That being said, there are reasons to be cheerful:
New Zealand, understanding the truth of the matter, are training in St Helens, the spiritual centre of all that is good in the rugby universe***.
Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Fiji or Tonga might get to the semis.
Danny Brough is going to get a World Cup game.
*blatantly obviously Gareth Hock, Jamie Graham and Michael McIllorum.
** Aussie team so very good. England team appears to be Steve McNamarra making a sow's purse out of a silk ear.
*** bias and stealing from Jed Thian happily admitted to.
