So I've been having a cruddy week, mostly due to various agonies (cramps on top of a damaged stomach mustle is not fun), various stupidities (I keep forgetting things, notably my foil in Coventry), other people's stupidities (really, just argh!) and my boss giving me two project students to look after in my final year of my PhD (and thus having to give up instrument time, thus having to go into work all day on Sunday). In short, even before I count my fencing kit bag (all £65 of it ($108)) exploding, it has not been a good week. The one thing that has been getting me through the week is my plan of watching the Wales match. Which I missed. Thankfully, Iplayer exists.

As does Andy Powell - http://www.cardiffblues.com/andy_powell.jpg

Admittedly they are playing Samoa so I shall be cheering for Samoa. Who are finally not being totally dicked over by the rest of the world and suddenly starting to play better. I wonder why not having all their best players being stolen by NZ has lead to that.

Reasons for cheering for Samoa:

1) They play proper rugby. If you do not like Samoan rugby you are doing something very wrong.

2) They play it properly in terms of spirit. If you don't want Samoa to win, except when they're playing your country, you have no soul.

3) The Tuilagi brothers. Feretti, who played for Saints, was the person who really kick started the most recent upswing in Samoan rugby, getting them places in Northern Hemisphere teams so they wouldn't be eaten up by New Zealand because they could resist New Zealand's financial blandishments.
