It's been really interesting to read [livejournal.com profile] wolfshift's posts on using Linux at home because I use it at work, and I really don't see why people say it's a pain to use. Certainly, at work, the main problems come from having to get a network of computers to run together and the high computer power the programmes we run demand.

However, when all of the above goes sput and you can't use most of the functions of your computer, including the USB ports, and the spare computer's screen breaks, and the computer bod for the department decides to take the day off, well, far more even-tempered people than me would lose their rag.
