Rugby Union
Mar. 16th, 2009 10:30 pmSubstantial post once I know what to say, RL has been mightily busy.
Instead, I bring rugby thoughts - One of the "journalists" at The Times was being mean about Peter Stringer again so I feel a need to defend him. Would show you the article, but it has mysteriously been disappeared.
But the cretin in question called him one dimensional, slow and uninventive.
I hereby showcase his invention, quick thinking, speed, and that for a 5 foot 7 tall guy in a game of giants, he's not the man to argue with.
First - him setting up a try this weekend against Scotland - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/rugby_union/7944282.stm Starts about 7.45. He won man of the match for a reason.
Munster v Glasgow, and the sneakiest try I ever did see -

Munster v Cardiff, featuring the doggedness and determination and sneakiness I adore - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1RMFmmeP4nI&feature=PlayList&p=1D2ABADAD2C9E309&index=1&playnext=2&playnext_from=PL
The tap tackle, may well have been when I fell in love with him - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G4PGZfloohQ&feature=PlayList&p=1D2ABADAD2C9E309&index=0&playnext=1
And this would be him scoring the try that helped Munster finally win the Heinikken Cup (kind of like the Stanley Cup) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZA4WoksFpo&feature=PlayList&p=1D2ABADAD2C9E309&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=4
It must be said that most of the comments, from people who like him, are not about him being brilliant, they're about him being a sneaky little blighter. Because the thing is, he's not the best scrum half playing today, but goodness knows, if the chips are down, he's one of your automatic selections.
