Might as well use this as an excuse to post my feelings about 11 as will be.
I already have my ideal Doctor and his name is 3. ;)
More seriously, while I may have wanted someone not skinny and young and generally hoped for a ancient, old-school type Doctor, I think I can live with this chap. Mostly after
andrastewhite commented that he's a manic hand flapper. I'm a fellow sufferer, and therefore find this an endearing trait.
I also live in hope that the screaming teenage fangirls might be put off and there might be less romance. This is not to suggest he is in anyway ugly, but he has a fine chin and a proud expanse of forehead.
I can also say that, quite thankfully, the new Doctor will still be older than me. Now, as I said, I'd prefer an older actor, mostly because I think they're better because they've seen more and a lot of acting comes from seeing how people react to things.
While he's an unknown, that's as it should be, to my mind anyway. And everyone who watched Ruby in the Smoke either thought he was good or can't remember him, so he can't be terrible, can he?
More to the point
selenak asked who you've have as Who, out of dead actors, and I was deeply intrigued by the idea of a David Niven Dr. Who. Out of alive actors, I'd love to have seen someone like Ramon Tikaram in the role. Because he can do clever, and that's one of the most important things, the actor, or actress, needs to be able to do clever.
