Computer Problem and Film Recommendations
Dec. 11th, 2008 07:45 pmOf course, one of the problems with Fred breaking down is the loss of a lot of WIPs and music, but hopefully, he'll still function for long enough for me to remove them, even if functioning is something that only occurs in fits and starts. It does at least give me something to do over the Christmas break that isn't taxing but could be fun.
Other than that, I bring film recs. Mostly aimed at the RPG gamers amongst my f-list, but as long as you know what an RPG is you should be able to watch it fine. I certainly could and the closest I get to playing RPGs is "Munchkin" (which I should also recommend).
The first film is The Gamers - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0419764/ and the second is The Gamers 2:Dorkness Rising - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0447166/
Don't worry, they're only related by production company and a couple of the actors. TG2 is probably the better film, mostly because 1 meant they could get a better budget and they'd learnt more about story-telling, characterisation and plot and so forth. TG2 is also the funniest film I've seen all year, and I think the bunch I saw it with would agree, given that we're still having random giggle-fits 4 days later.
I'd explain the plots only, I really can't do them justice because they're clever but not that annoying, pretentious clever that films sometimes end up with. There's wit, slapstick, sarcasm, most of the other fifteen flavours of humour. And the second one has some killer musical parts.
In short - I heartily recommend them. Go and watch.
