A job/fashion/presentation question

Okay so I have curly hair, and it's very much part of brand 'Red Fiona'. But it does occasionally move towards attack hair and general mess. So before the San Diego conference, which is the big conference for my field, do I get my hair tidied up and straightened and lose some recognition value but gain tidiness, or do I keep it curly and keep the image but have the threat of untidiness (and have to hunt down the green Sunsilk serum known as the only thing that'll keep it down).
