Mar. 2nd, 2006 06:51 pmGot a reply from the local MP to a letter I sent as part of an Amnesty International campaign - way to go our MP. This is the case by the way - http://www.amnesty.org.uk/gcc/2005/cases/bitondo/
So in the spirit of passing good things on, I bring good music
The Libertines - Can't Stand Me Now - http://s48.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2LO7C0WMOOKEL32A8ZN0IG1Q0B
It does what most of my favourite songs do, it plays with words and emotions. Seriously, the despairing chorus needs to be heard ( Actually I'll post all the lyrics )
Dizzie Rascal - Stand Up Tall - http://s48.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2PXJOGEWZQRLS0LKUB9XJ42BI7
British hip-hop, kind of, ish. The style's called grime or urban or any number of other names (Actually there's a fantastic tune by an MC called Wiley about exactly what to call it). I'm quite fond of it.
Mylo - Drop The Pressure - http://s48.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1M26ZYFAQPWKL1SFREGD8C88HR
Miami Sound Machine sample, killer hook and madly dancy.
Kasabian - LSF (Lost Souls Forever) - http://s48.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0JJCTSD9I60R0W8AA6QB2DCUR
They're a band from Leicester but they're quite big. I hear a lot of Stone Roses influence in them. Much like Massive Attack they're songs to have sex to.
Nick Cave - There She Goes My Beautiful World - http://s48.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=36IHCWOTAZ8WY3IEP2AC0QT0N6
Okay, one of you must know this - how does Nick Cave, the Goth king himself, manage to write the most fantastic love songs? To top that this is a soul love song, better than 9/10ths of modern soul singers could manage.
Other than that, I've finally figured out why I can't get into Desperate Housewives. It's because they aren't characters, they're characatures.
