Mar. 6th, 2004 05:29 pmkay so time for an update, what have been getting up to. Well in short, three presentations, an essay, a microbiology practical book, a genes report and an energy flow write up. We're overworked us biologists.
Outside of that I had pancakes on Pancake Tuesday, just the way I like them, and with lemon and sugar. Of course the most fun thing was that Kirsten who was cooking them had the same recipe book as my Nan so they really did taste the way I had them at home :)
Then I went out, discovered I quite liked Long Island Iced Teas and Japanese Iced Teas (same sort of thing but more bitter) and that the thing about Time is that they make strong cocktails.
Of course Beth was there with the boyfriend, and was looking daggers at me. I've never worked out what her problem is with me, either I irritate her, or she thinks I'm after her boyfriend, or she thinks I'm trying to take her spot as the more alternative than thou girl. I can't help irritating her if I do, I'm not the sort of girl who goes after other people's boyfriends (and if I did he wouldn't even be on the shortlist) and its not my fault that she has to work at being all alternative when I'm naturally an oddball.
Then that Thursday I went to an unofficial biology social. Which was advertised by a note being passed round the lecture so of course a grand total of 8 of us turned up. Met a new person though, name's Kate from up North like me (from Castleford) and she likes rugby so I had fun. Me and Nisha went home before things got too wild. Just in time, because the other 5 (Kate went home even earlier) then got chucked out.
The Sunday after I went out to a fencing social, in honour of the coach's birthday. It was the usual drunken fun.
Then this Wednesday I went to the Amnesty meeting. First one I've managed all term, which is a shame because it's lots of fun. Made a pretty poster for the thing next Wednesday. Then I stayed up until 2 watching Red Dwarf. Blame Jo.
Then Thursday I went to Zanzibar, yet another club. Dude called Ragev was playing, he's had a couple of minor chart hits. Didn't stay long enough to find out what he's like live because I was asleep on my feet and went home with Mo and Emily. And had garlic bread. Yum.
And now I'm writing this. Yeah, this is the recovery weekend, except I'm going for my Grade 2 fencing this Sunday, so I'll be going out after that. And then I'm supposed to be going to Creation on Tuesday with Nisha, Bhavika, Mo and anyone else that turns up, and to the Amnesty thing on Wednesday. I also want to go see Gorky's Zygotic Mynci, but I don't know if there are any tickets left. Hopefully I'll get up early enough tomorrow to go down and have a look. I'll also have to get a black cartridge for the new printer. Stupidly, it only came with a photo one and a colour one. I had to get a new printer because the old one died. Can I take the time to recommend PC World because that's where I bought the laptop and the printer, and they didn't give me a moment's trouble replacing the printer. Henceforth, PC World is on the list of shops that rock.
Oh and somewhere in the next two weeks I'm supposed to be getting inducted at the gym.
If this term doesn't kill me, nothing will.
