Watching Film 2003 does have it's advantages. (For those abroad, Film (year) is the BBC's film programme and is always worth a watch.

First off - Master and Commander, for which Paul Bettany is demanding slash. Quote, "Jack (Russell Crowe) and James (his own character) complete each other. I'm so glad I didn't have to say that in the film, it would have been a little difficult to sell." So don't blame the teenies, blame Paul Bettany.

Or Peter Weir who wasn't any better. Billy Boyd gives a good interview. And Russell Crowe saying he had to practise because he's not a good sailor and having the captain throw up everywhere wasn't a good idea. Yes, I may be the last person of this opinion out there but I think Russell Crowe is a great actor. Especially for this sort of role.

Then came 'Love, Actually' and a Richard Curtis interview. Now there's a really clever guy who never comes across well in interviews. It looks to be quite the adorable film. Plus it meant I got to see Alan Rickman being seedy and play Snape (which is a whole different kind of seedy) in one show.

There was a little bit about Red Light Runner, featuring Michael Madsen, Rich Hall (Yankee comedian, very funny), Crispin Glover and Roy Schneider. The best bit was that one of the takes was interuppted by a telephone, but that'll probably only amuse those who have seen Roy Schneider's cinema thing with Orange and the whole 'please switch your phones off' message. Actually in favour of aforementioned clipette, it's very funny.

Crispin Glover may well be the world's most awkward looking person however.

And then, the piece de la resistance, the Harry Potter trailer.

In common with lots of other people I would like to say how fantastic the new director is. And casting Michael Gambon as Dumbledore was good. And they've finally managed to make everything look right, what with Hogwarts being shown all dark and gloaming. Not to mention Sirius. Can someone smack me for all the times I doubted Gary Oldman, even if he was scenery chewing in one of the scenes he was in. Then again it was as a wanted poster so he can be forgiven.

And the shadows when Arthur Weasley's telling Harry not to go after Sirius.
One question though, who thought that bleached rat would be a good look for Draco, because he's supposed to look rich, not like a council estate scally.

The music for it was well done, just the right mix of wonder, cute, and some not quite right darkness.

And of all the things they had to get right, it had to be the dementors. I will not sleep I can tell you that.
