Rugby League raving
Oct. 27th, 2002 12:52 pmSo my team won the Grand Final (A bit like the play offs but way more complicatedly arranged), a little cheating may or may not have been involved, but we win.
So along with the title of champions, we got a match against New Zealand, who are basically the second best team in the world.
So on one side you have the New Zeland touring side, fully fit, doing this as a warm up for their matches against the Great Britain side.
And on the other side, you've got a Saints team with most of the best team injured (we had seven, 7, regular starters out), our hooker (kind like the quarter back) was playing with a broken bone in his hand, both our full backs were injured (kind of like goalies but not, if you follow football (sorry soccer) the sweeper), and none of our kickers were fit.
So the B team (youngsters and the subs bench) were playing the second best side in the world.
The final score: NZ 38 - 26 St. Helens
And one of their tries wasn't, so a fairer reflection would be 32 - 26.
The boys did brilliantly.
