Films I have seen recently

While I'm aware I went to San Diego for work, it was useful for catching up with films.

Shrooms (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0492486/) which may be on my list of worst films I've seen. It did some things well, particularly the jump shocks, but the dialogue was pretty rank and the end twist was pulled out of a hat. It did, however, however have this chap - http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1658935/ - Jack Huston, who is 1) ridiculously attractive to mine eye and 2) could actually act.

I also got to see Kung Fu Panda

Not the riotous comedy expected but still lovely and fun, and I did cry when Oogway ascended. Not brilliant but nice.

Got to re-watch Iron Man, and I still love the opening sequence, prefer the first half to the second half, adore Pepper Pots and am reminded of Dune at a certain spoilery point.

Watched Shrek 3, enjoyed it. Was amused the Ian McShane who was a loveable rogue actor when I was young (Lovejoy, how I remember thee) has become the man to voice your cartoon villains.

I didn't watch 'Made of Honour' mostly because my taste for predictable rom-coms is low. However, I did catch a glimpse of Kevin McKidd in full kilt and shawl and gear. Followed by Patrick Dempsey in a tiny, tiny kilt. My thing for kilts is all my Mother's fault, but sadly it does exist.

On the way back I watched Indiana Jones 4, which I disliked less than most people did. It fell into fewer of the traps that The Mummy 3 fell into and Mutt worked when the equivalent character in Mummy 3 really didn't (seriously, I challenge anyone to watch Mummy 3 without coming out of it wanting to strangle Alex O'Connell).

Rewatched Speed Racer, still adored it, coming to the worrying conclusion that Dark Knight is probably going to have the most rewatch value of the films I've enjoyed this year.

Pretty much used Ocean's 13 as a way of falling asleep (I was near the engines). I have no ideas as to its qualities as a film, but it's great for coving up plane noises.

That was pretty much my reaction.

Sadly can't find one of Kevin McKidd.

Have you seen any of the HBO series Deadwood? He plays one of the most wonderful villains in the history of ever in Al Swearengen. *points to icon* It's a brilliantly-written character.

Sadly not. It's on my list of things I must see. Sadly this is becoming a longer list every day.

Patrick Dempsey has very nice knees.

They go with the very nice rest of him.

You should have seen that kilt move.

Shrek 3's sort of one of those boarderline movies for me. I still think Harold's death was a bad idea, but I did like the stuff with Arthur and Shrek's growing into fatherhood.

I'm actually dreading seeing Mummy 3. I can't imagine anyone else but Rachel W as Evie :/

Maria Bello is actually one of the least worst things about it. And how they get round the actress change is genius. M3 is a bad film, but it has its moments.

See,I like Maria Bello (esp. in The Cooler), but I wasn't sure of how good and Evie she turned out to be.

I'm sad that they turned Alex into a snot :/
