3 Sentence Fics 2025 - My fills
Not including that one Snake Eyes fill I just could not get to work in 3 sentences. I have 2 different 4 sentence versions and it's oh so frustrating.
Prompt: any fandom with a high-technology setting, any, sword & sorcery AU
Fill: To Seek Out New Civilisations (Star Trek: TNG, gen)
There were some who thought Duke Picard was a sorcerer, or his lady in waiting Deana of Troi a witch, but he and his men at arms took their mission from the King of the federated states seriously. They were to exchange knowledge and bring peace, explore the world around its territory. The danger this day was the tournament his bravest knight, Sir William, was about to joust in.
Prompt: any, any, struggling against muscle memory
Fill: Made To Measure, Kurogane, Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle (Spoilers)
Kurogane stumbles as he turns, used to throwing his non-sword arm away from his body as a counter-balance. Piffle's Tomoyo has had this arm made for him, strange and metallic, and slightly mis-weighted, though it is. He must learn to use it.

Fury noticed that Hill, Hawkeye and Romanoff were nowhere to be found. It meant the SHIELD PR person could make a direct line across the hall to him. "But you see, Frosted Flakes don't think Tony Stark is a good fit for their cereal."
Prompt: Any fandom with a late-20th-century setting, any characters, “It's about the Marshmallow Incident; and the Filing Cabinet Incident; and also the Volkswagen Beetle Parked On Top of the Fountain in the Fucking Lily Pond Incident.”
Fill: There are reasons (X-Men gen) (like I could help it given that prompt)
The school has strict rules about where students can use their powers. There are reasons, lots of reasons. Breaking those rules only leads to lots of chores.
Prompt: any, any, that intermediate level of language proficiency where you can pretty much get your point across but sometimes the way you phrase things is bizarre
Fill: Old-fashioned (Star Trek Reboot verse, Uhura and McCoy gen)
Dr. McCoy pretends he sounds like that because he's not good with languages, but Uhura suspects he enjoys sounding old-fashioned. Certainly, the Diguesian ambassador is charmed, which took everyone else a lot more work. "Why, dear lady, the fountains here look so pretty in this latest season."
Prompt: any, any, David Attenborough narrates a nature documentary involving AUV Boaty McBoatface
"And here we see the deep sea angler fish, at home at the bottom of the ocean. It would be difficult, if not impossible, to see, if weren't for the submarine vehicle carrying a powerful camera. Boaty McBoatface was designed for just such missions.
Let's be honest, every British child of my gen can do a David Attenborough impression.
Prompt: Dune (any version), Liet Kynes, paths not taken
Fill: Family Tree (Miniseries version in my head)
Leto and Ghanima are as Kynes as they are Atredies, let this not be forgotten. They see routes, all the roots. There is no version of this where their grandfather lives to see his father's dream.
Prompt: Any, any, toxic yuri selfcest
Fill (and long explanation): It's always you and me, always and forever (AEW, Toni Storm / Mariah May)
I realised while writing why it fits the prompt and looks like it doesn't if you're not following this storyline. For those not into wrestling, Toni Storm returned as a Norma Desmond type character. Mariah May appeared, and it all went significantly All About Eve [complete with TCM intro and Ben Mankiewicz voice-overs]. Both of them have canonically dressed up as each other, and the resemblance is uncanny.)
It was always the ways that Mariah was like her that made Toni clasp her to her bosom. Now she's going to return the favour. As she pulls on the pink pleather outfit - so cheap, darling - she dreams of nothing more than pulling Mariah out of it the way she had pulled Mariah out of the clothes she had stolen from Toni.
Prompt: Star Trek, any, the difference between theory and practice
Fill: The Wrong Button, Reboot Verse Scotty fic
"Theoretically this should work," Scotty pressed the button. With the Doshian ship closing in, it had better work. In the grand tradition of this sort of thing, it did - although only because the Enterprise flipped upside down and flew under the Doshian ship.
